Or our federal courts will be impotent
On May 22, 2025, the House narrowly passed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” (H.R. 1) by a 215–214 vote. Buried within is a clause that restricts federal courts from enforcing contempt citations against government officials who defy court orders, unless a plaintiff first posts a bond. This eliminates the separation of powers by limiting courts’ enforcement abilities and could retroactively render existing court orders unenforceable.
The bill now moves to the Senate. They tell us to relax. This provision won't survive Senate scrutiny—and even if it somehow passes and becomes law, the Supreme Court will intervene—the Court already gave Trump immunity?
WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?
Do not tell me to relax and let the system work itself out. The US House of Representatives is the system, and it has failed.
